Louisville City’s New Stadium to Open in Butchertown

After a win over Tampa Bay this weekend, Louisville City soccer is celebrating not only a great game, but a new stadium.

Louisville City started playing in 2015, and is currently a member of USL (United Soccer League) and is a Division 2 Team. Louisville City made it to the USL Eastern Conference Final in 2015 and 2016, and since entering the USL, Louisville City has earned 108 points in league play– the most of any team in the USL. Louisville City purchased their USL license from Orlando City FC, though the affiliation agreement ended in 2016 when Orlando launched a USL team in addition to their MLS team.

Louisville City has been playing at Louisville Slugger Field, but is ready to step out on its own. A 10,000 seat stadium is planned for the Butchertown area, with an option for an expansion to 20,000 seats.

Louisville City is currently ranked first in the Eastern Conference standings, though there’s a full season ahead of them. For tickets, visit the Louisville City website!
